About Us
Hands & Voices of New York is a State-Wide Chapter of the National Hands & Voices Organization.
We are dedicated to supporting families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, regardless of communication modes or methodologies. We aim to empower families to change futures for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing by offering essential resources and impartial guidance. Through educational advocacy, accessible communication, and teamwork, we work to improve opportunities and create an inclusive environment for everyone.
We strive to create a supportive network where families can connect and children can thrive. We host several events each year throughout New York state, offering opportunities for families to meet and connect with other families of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.

Our Mission
Hands & Voices of New York is dedicated to supporting families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, regardless of communication modes or methodology. We are a parent driven, non-profit organization providing families with the resources, networks, and information they need to improve communication access and educational outcomes for their children. Our efforts are focused on enabling Deaf and Hard of Hearing children to reach their highest potential.
We are family. We are community. We are strong.

Core Beliefs
We share our core beliefs with the national Hands & Voices organization and network of state chapters.
- We believe that children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and their families should have access to all services appropriate to their needs.
- We believe that family members should have access to pertinent information to support their child who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- We believe that parents should be collaborative partners with agencies, schools, and relevant professional organizations.
- We believe that communication mode should be a personal choice of the family and the child.
- We believe that children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, like all children, should have quality, ongoing, and fluid communication, at home, in the classroom, and throughout their community.
