Apple Picking

(Highland, NY)

2025

On the morning of Sunday, October 12th, nine families gathered for apple picking at Dubois Farm in Highland, New York.

Event organizer Kit Fraser began by welcoming the group with some information about Hands & Voices and distributing apple picking bags which contained a map, gift certificate to Dubois Farm, and some educational material.

The educational content was created for Hands & Voices of NY by UCONN’s HELLO Lab last year. It covered an illustrated applesauce recipe, along with relevant language learning tips and ASL vocab.

Families enjoyed a tractor ride and apple picking together before reconvening in the playground area to connect and enjoy cider and apple cider donuts. We were happy to welcome 3 new families at this event along with several families who regularly attend our Hudson Valley events!

This event was sponsored by the New York State Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (NY EDHI) and Hands & Voices of New York.
