Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness
at Yankees Stadium
(Bronx, NY)
2025

Game day success!
Five families who won tickets in our giveaway met at the game with Hands & Voices board members Karen and Steve Engel on September 27.
Each family expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to attend the Yankees Game with their child and the opportunity to meet other families from across New York State who have children who were deaf or hard of hearing.
The seats were selected with many factors taken into consideration. If the weather had not cooperated, families were seated close to the 4th level canopy to assist in protecting children’s amplification modes (hearing aids or cochlear implants. Seats were selected in an area with a clear view of the jumbo screen, which provided closed caption throughout the game. Families had seats that were purchased in a block, which provided opportunities for adults and children to communicate comfortably with each other.
Some responses from our families when asked their favorite part of the event:
- “Meeting new people in the deaf community.”
- “Great welcoming host, people using sign language and different ages of kids attending.”
- “Meeting Karen and being around other families and the cool baseball hats!”
The event was sponsored by the Hands & Voices of New York and New York State Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (NY EDHI).
