Holiday Event
(Albany, NY)
2024

This yearās Hands and Voices of NY holiday event in Albany was a huge success! 16 families of deaf and hard of hearing children attended. The location of BOTS (Bring On The Spectrum Community Space & Sensory Gym) was perfect for the families and children attending. There were so many activities and things to do. It was great seeing the children interacting and the families having opportunities to meet and socialize. We had a few new families attending for the first time and they really enjoyed connecting with our board members and families in attendance. We structured the event to have play and social time, ASL instruction time, and sensory activities. Many of the families that attended use a combination of ASL and spoken language. Signing Santa was a such a special treat for our D/HH kids!Event sponsored by the New York State Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program (NY EHDI).

We had a special guest. Oliver brought his therapy dog to our event. The dogās name is Moreau. Moreau is deaf and was adopted by Oliver. He was trained to be a therapy dog and has visited BOTS before. He was so gentle with the children at our holiday event. He also knows some sign language that we showed the kids to use with him!
